From it’s inception, Christmas has been pretty pagan. A lot of the early Christians were former pagans, so they wanted an excuse to have a winter celebration. So they put Jesus’s birthday in winter so that they can have an excuse to hold on to their pagan traditions (decorating trees, giving gifts, Yule logs, etc.). Historically speaking, Jesus was born in the spring. So if we truly want to celebrate his birth, than we would be doing it in March or April.
But even to this day, people don’t really celebrate a Christ-centered Christmas. Yea, some of us go to church and have the Nativity scene in our homes. But what do you look forward to the most to when you think of Christmas? Snow, presents, food that your mom makes only durring Christmas, and then Christ.
So when I hear people say “Let’s put the Christ back in Christmas” I usually think He was never in the center of Christmas anyway.
Am I still going to celebrate Christmas? HECK YEA!!! But we should all acknowledge the pagan history of Christmas.
Similar to Easter. Holidays that really have no Biblical basis. However, I will be enjoying all the food I helped to cook this Christmas and the company of my parents and their friends. And we definitely decorated this house. So I’m excited :)
Well technically, these events that we’re celebrating are in the Bible, and there’s nothing wrong with celebrating them. But we as Christians secularize these holidays to the point that we take out the Biblical event the holiday was based on. For example, do you see many atheists celebrate Hanukkah, Ramadan, Yom Kippur, or other holidays that are based on some type of religion? And yet many atheists partake in Christmas because one can celebrate Christmas with out acknowledging Christ’s existence.
But yea, Christmas is my FAVORITE holiday!! My mom always has our house looking like it’s in an interior design magazine =D.

that’s exactly how I feel. I think Christmas is a wonderful time to be with family & etc. but it’s not Biblical at all.
