This confession is cleary in reverse. This is reason #4 why the films (ie Yates and Kloves) suck so bad. Book!Hermione is the way Rowling wanted her to be because that’s how she was in school. Book!Hermione is smart, talented, but also obnoxious, pushy, bossy, but most importantly flawed. The films pretty much erased Hermione’s flaws because they feel that Hermione should only be one way, rather than multidimensional. Book!Hermione stands for what she believes in and does everything to protect those that she loves and cares about. She goes a little overboard and come off as motherly, but that’s why I love her. The films after POA erased that. On the one hand they made her bland and basic (with Watson it’s pretty easy to do) as well as borderline ordinary, but on the other they made her Supergirl. The films didn’t give her the balance that the books did. They made her too easily likeable and bearable like you said, but she wasn’t supposed to be. Everything that I loved about Hermione was gone in the films. An extremely intelligent girl is going to come off as obnoxious just like I was when I was in school. I saw myself reading those books (and why my headcanon Herm is black), so eff this confession.
